New Leaf Jo Balda
Every year New Leaf awards the New Leaf Jo Balda scholarship to deserving seniors enrolled in high school in Whidbey Island, Washington.
The New Leaf Jo Balda Scholarship is named in honor of Jo Balda, a member of the New Leaf Board of Directors for 25 years. She was a blessing to friends and family and was known for her tireless community service in Oak Harbor and her dedication to helping others around her.
The NLJB scholarship is awarded to students who best demonstrate substantial community service performed and whose career goals closely align with community service.
Past winners have gone to colleges and universities around the country and majored in everything from engineering to communications to pre-med. The common threads are their commitment to community service and their desire to pursue higher education in furtherance of their service goals.
The scholarship award amount is $2,000 payable directly to the school you will attend. To receive the scholarship award, you must enroll in school within one academic year of high school graduation.
