Day Janitor Route Driver

Pay & Benefits

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday 8:30pm-4:30am. Potential for on-call time depending on need.

  • 1 hour of weekend work per month, in rotation with fellow crew members.

 

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license. This is a driving position; only licensed drivers who will drive a route will be hired for this position.

  • A reliable janitorial crew member who services buildings on NAS Whidbey.

  • Prior janitorial/custodial experience preferred but not required

Main Responsibilities:

  • Driving to various locations according to specified route.

  • Cleaning and detailing facilities: trash removal, dusting, wipe downs, sanitation, restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, stocking supplies as needed.

 

Main Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to endure up to 7 hours a day of standing, walking, and stair-climbing.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to reach, kneel, walk, stand and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time.

Requirements

  • A reliable shelf stocking crew member who stocks the Commissary.

  • Prior stocking experience preferred but not required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Operating pallet jacks to bring large pallets of cases throughout the store. Stacking empty pallets.

  • Safely opening cardboard boxes with use of a box cutter

  • Placing product on shelves in an efficient manner

  • Reading UPC codes to accurately place product in the designated area

  • Bailing cardboard as needed.

Main Responsibilities

  • Cleaning commissary facility: removing trash, sweeping, moping, dusting, vacuuming, wipe downs, sanitation

  • Floor care in commissary including sweeping, mopping, burnishing, stripping, waxing

  • Cleaning and caring for tools and equipment.

Main Physical Requirements

  • Ability to endure up to 7 hours a day of standing and walking.

Requirements

  • A reliable custodial crew member who cleans the meat room at the Whidbey Island commissary.

  • Prior janitorial experience preferred but not required.

  • Cleaning and caring for tools and equipment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly cleans, details and sanitizes meat-room facility. 

  • Required to wear a wet suit.

  • Breaks down, cleans and sanitizes equipment.

  • Re-assembles equipment.

  • Moves equipment in and out of the meat-room.

  • Removes trash.

  • Performs floor care including sweeping and mopping and using a scrubbing machine according to the schedule currently once per month).

  • Must be cautious and follow procedures when handling/protecting sensitive (electronic) equipment 

Main Physical Requirements

  • Ability to endure up to 7 hours a day of standing, and walking on a slippery/wet surface.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs on a slippery/wet surface. 

  • Must be able to reach, kneel, walk, stand and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time on a slippery/wet surface.

Requirements

  • A Grounds Maintenance worker to maintain, repair, and provide service on all grounds service areas to ensure that they are clean, safe, and attractive.

  • Some prior experience operating lawn mowers and trimmers preferred, but not required.

  • Ability to pass NAS Whidbey background check at time of hire and for duration of employment. Felonies will prohibit base access.

  • A clean driving record and valid driver’s license preferred, but not required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Mowing, trimming, edging, mulching, aeration and fertilization; weed and brush control; flower bed services; tree and shrub pruning; debris and ditch cleanup.

  • Picking up and removing all rubbish, debris, and trash.

  • Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.

Main Physical Requirements

  • Ability to endure up to 8 hours a day of standing, walking, and working on steep inclines such as hills and un-level ground.

  • Ability to work in diverse weather conditions (e.g., wet, cold, and hot).

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. / push and pull up to 70lbs.

  • Must have good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and good sense of balance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, shampooing, stripping, waxing, burnishing, pressure washing inside and outside.

  • Proper use and care of floor care equipment according to training.

  • Complete and follow all required operations and safety trainings.
