Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent (4 years) work and management experience required, Master’s degree and/or equivalent management (6 years) experience preferred. 

  • Proven record displaying strong attributes of leadership, ethical practice, critical evaluation and business acumen both within a similar not-for-profit company and in their community. 

  • Demonstration of a strong background and exceptional desire to work with adults with exceptionalities.

  • Experience with non-profit and contractual/reporting required.

  • History of strong organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Must be able to pass a background check as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing strategic planning and operation support of New Leaf, Inc.’s mission and goals. The Executive Director/CEO provides leadership, direction and support to the Board of Directors in developing organizational goals, attaining/allocating resources, and establishing policies. The Executive Director provides leadership and direction to staff in carrying out the key roles assigned to them.

  • Provide leadership and management to ensure that the mission and core values of New Leaf, Inc. are sustained.

  • Incorporating best practices to help analyze operations with the benefit of New Leaf employees in mind. Evaluate performance of New Leaf and its staff in meeting objectives and determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.

  • Direct or coordinate the organization's financial and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency.

  • Work closely with the Director of Human Services/Vocational Services to encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.

  • Be punctual, dependable, ethical and self-motivated.

  • Maintain employee confidentiality.

  • Be proficient in management and administrative software applications (i.e.; Microsoft Office or equivalent).

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure. 

  • Understand and stay in full compliance with AbilityOne, SourceAmerica, state and federal laws and reporting requirements.

  • Develop strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials. Act as the public relations representative of New Leaf, Inc. in ways that strengthen New Leaf’s profile within the Oak Harbor community while promoting public awareness of our company and its mission.

Grounds Maintenance

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday 8am – 4:30pm with a half hour lunch. (35-40 hours a week).

  • Saturdays are sometimes required during peak season (April-June).

  • Potential for seasonal layoffs Oct-March. Also potential for winter work and advancement for high-achieving employees.
     

Requirements:

  • A Grounds Maintenance Worker to maintain, repair, and provide service on all grounds to ensure that they are clean, safe, and attractive.

  • Some prior experience operating lawn mowers and trimmers preferred, but not required

  • Ability to pass NAS Whidbey Background check at time of hire and for duration of employment. Felonies will prohibit base access.

  • A clean driving record and valid driver’s license preferred, but not required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Mowing, trimming, pruning, edging, mulching, aeration and fertilization

  • Weed and brush control

  • Debris cleanup

  • Cleaning and caring for tools and equipment.

 

Main Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outside up to 8 hours a day, including standing, walking, and working on steep inclines such as hills and un-level ground.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. / push and pull up to 70lbs.

  • Must have good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and good sense of balance.

  • Once trained, must be able to operate a 12lb trimmer for up to 6 hours.

Galley Food Service Attendant

Location: Admiral Nimitz Hall Galley, NASWI.

  • A reliable janitorial crew member who services buildings on NAS Whidbey.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's license. Must be able to drive to worksite on NASWI.

  • A reliable floor care janitor who performs special floor care, specific cleaning projects and daily floor cleaning duties in accordance with standard procedures in the contract.

  • Prior janitorial experience preferred but not required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Floor care including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, shampooing, stripping, waxing, burnishing, and scrubbing, requiring use of a buffer and an auto-scrubber machine. Some outside cleaning including sweeping and some pressure washing.

  • Equipment cleaning and care

Main Physical Requirements

  • Ability to endure up to 7 hours a day of standing, and walking.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Bailing cardboard as needed.
